WORDS OF THE DAYS
2 CHRONICLES
CHAPTER 1
1 And Shalamah son of Dau'yad was strengthened in his reign, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH was with him, and exalted him exceedingly.
2 And Shalamah spoke to all Yashar'AL, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Yashar'AL, the heads of the fathers'.
3 So Shalamah, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gaba'un (Gaba'oon), for there was the Tent of Meeting of ALUAH, which Mashah the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had made in the wilderness.
4 But Dau'yad had brought the Ark of ALUAH up from Qara’yath Ya’ara’ym to the place that Dau'yad had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it at Yaru'shalam.
5 Moreover the bronze altar, that Batsal’AL son of Aura’ya, son of Khur (Khoor), had made, was there before the tabernacle of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): and Shalamah and the assembly were seeking counsel there.
6 And Shalamah went up there to the bronze altar before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.
7 In that night ALUAH appeared to Shalamah and said to him, "Ask what I shall give you."
8 And Shalamah said to ALUAH, "You have shown great loving kindness to Dau'yad my father, and have made me king in his place.
9 Now 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH, let Your promise to Dau'yad my father be established, for You have made me king over a people numerous like the dust of the earth.
10 Now give me discernment and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this Your people, that is so great?"
11 And ALUAH said to Shalamah, "Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or esteem, nor the being of those who hate you, neither yet have asked many days, but have asked discernment and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people, over whom I have made you king:
12 Discernment and knowledge is granted to you. I will give you riches, wealth, and esteem, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you, neither shall there any after you have the like."
13 So Shalamah came from the high place that was at Gaba'un (Gaba'oon), from before the Tent of Meeting, to Yaru'shalam, and he reigned over Yashar'AL.
14 And Shalamah gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had one thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Yaru'shalam.
15 And the king made silver and gold to be in Yaru'shalam as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
16 And the horses which Shalamah had were brought out of Ma’tsara’ym and from Qu'a, the king's merchants purchased them from Qu'a.
17 And they brought up and brought out of Ma’tsara’ym a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Khath'ym, and the kings of Aram, did they bring them out by their means.
CHAPTER 2
1 Now Shalamah purposed to build a House for The Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and a house for his reign.
2 And Shalamah counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
3 And Shalamah sent to Khu'ram (Khoo’ram)* king of Tsar, saying, "As you dealt with Dau'yad my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house in which to dwell in,
*Notice how the Masoretic differs his name in this Book versus in 1 Malak’ym (1 Malak’ym notes as Kha’yaram)
4 Behold, I am about to build a House for The Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) My ALUAH, to dedicate it to Him, and to burn before him incense of sweet incense, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings rising and evening, for the Shabath'uth, and for the new months, and for the appointed times of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH. This is for forever to Yashar'AL.
5 “And The House which I build is great, for Our ALUAH is great above all mighty ones.
6 But who is able to build him a House, since shama'ym and the shama'ym of shama'ym cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a House, except just to burn incense before Him?
7 "Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and who knows how to engrave engravings, with the skillful men who are with me in Yahudah and in Yaru'shalam, whom Dau'yad my father did provide.
8 “And send me cedar trees, cypress trees, and algum trees, out of Laba'nun (Laba’noon), for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Laba'nun: and behold, my servants shall be with your servants,
9 even to prepare me timber in abundance, for the House which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.
10 Behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil."
11 Then Khu'ram king of Tsar answered in writing, which he sent to Shalamah, "Because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) loves His people, He has made you king over them."
12 And Khu'ram continued, "Baruk Be 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, that made shama'ym and earth, who has given to Dau'yad the king a discerned son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a House for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and a House for His reign.
13 Now I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, of Khu'ram my father's,
14 son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tsar, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in bronze, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, also to engrave any kind of engraving, and to devise any device, that there may be a place appointed to him with your skillful men, and with the skillful men of my sovereign Dau'yad your father.
15 "Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my sovereign has spoken of, let him send to his servants:
16 and we will cut wood out of Laba'nun, as much as you shall need, and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Yapu, and you shall carry it up to Yaru'shalam."
17 And Shalamah numbered all the foreigner men who were in the land of Yashar'AL, after the numbering with which Dau'yad his father had numbered them, and they were found one hundred and fifty and three thousand and six hundred.
18 And he put seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to put the people at work.
CHAPTER 3
1 Then Shalamah began to build the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) at Yaru'shalam on the Mount Mura’Yah,* where was appeared to Dau'yad his father, which he prepared in the place that Dau'yad had appointed, in the threshing floor of Ar’nan the Yabus'ya (Yaboos’ya).
*Note The Masoretic difference here vs Ba'rasha'yath 22:2
2 And he began to build in the second month, in two, in year four of his reign.
3 Now these are the foundations which Shalamah laid for the building of the house of ALUAH. The length by cubits after the first measure was sixty cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
4 And the porch that was before, its length according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height one hundred and twenty, and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
5 And the greater house he made a ceiling with cypress wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and carved it with palm trees and chains.
6 And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Paru’ym.
7 And he overlaid the house, the beams, the thresholds, and its walls, and its doors, with gold, and engraved karub'ym on the walls.
8 And he made the most Made Apart House: its length, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and its breadth twenty cubits, and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
9 And the weight of the nails was fifty shaqal'ym of gold. And he overlaid the upper rooms with gold.
10 In the most Made Apart House he made two karub'ym of image work, and they overlaid them with gold.
11 And the wings of the karub'ym were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing was five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other karub.
12 And the wing of the other karub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing was five cubits, joining to the wing of the other karub.
13 And the wings of these karub'ym spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were toward the house.
14 And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and ornamented it with karub'ym.
15 Also he made before the house two columns of thirty and five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
16 And he made chains in the right ruling, and put on the tops of the columns, and he made one hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.
17 And he put up the columns before the Hayakal, one on the right hand, and the other on the left, and called the name of that on the right hand Yaka’yan, and the name of that on the left Ba’az.*

CHAPTER 4
1 Then he made an altar of bronze, twenty cubits its length, and twenty cubits its breadth, and ten cubits its height.
2 Also he made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and its height was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits encircled it.
3 Under it was the likeness of oxen, which encircled it, for ten cubits, encircling the sea. The oxen were in two rows, cast when it was cast.
4 And it stood on twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set on them above, and all their hinder parts were inward.
5 And it was a handbreadth thick, and its brim was worked like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily: it received and held three thousand baths.
6 And he made also ten basins, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them, such things as belonged to the burnt offering they washed in them, but the sea was for the ka’ahn’ym (priests) to wash in.
7 And he made the ten lampstands of gold according to the ordinance concerning them, and he put them in the Hayakal, five on the right hand, and five on the left.
8 And he made also ten tables, and placed them in the Hayakal, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made one hundred basins of gold.
9 Furthermore he made the court of the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors of them with bronze.
10 And he placed the sea on the right side eastward, toward the south.
11 And Khu'ram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basins. So Khu'ram made an end of doing the work that he did for king Shalamah in the house of ALUAH:
12 the two columns, and the bowls, and the two capitals which were on the top of the columns, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the columns,
13 and four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the columns.
14 And he made also the bases, and the basins made he on the bases,
15 one sea, and the twelve oxen under it.
16 And the pots, and the shovels, and the forks, and all its vessels, did Khu'ram his father make for king Shalamah for the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) of bright bronze.
17 In the plain of the Yardan did the king cast them, in the clouds of clay* between Sak’uth and Tsar’dath’ah.
*This is the literal translation. Most translations read clay grounds or clay moulds
18 Thus Shalamah made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the bronze could not be found out.
19 And Shalamah made all the vessels that were in the House of ALUAH, the golden altar also, and the tables with the show bread on them,
20 and the lampstands with their lamps, to burn according to the ordinance before the right ruling, of pure gold,
21 and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold, and that complete gold,
22 and the snuffers, and the basins, and the spoons, and the fire pans, of pure gold: and as for the entry of the house, the inner doors of it for the most Made Apart Place, and the doors of the main hall of the Hayakal were of gold.
CHAPTER 5
1 Thus all the work that Shalamah did for the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was finished. And Shalamah brought in the items that Dau'yad his father had dedicated, even the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels, and put them in the treasuries of the house of ALUAH.
2 Then Shalamah assembled the elders of Yashar'AL, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers' of the children of Yashar'AL, to Yaru'shalam, to bring up the Ark of the Bar'yath (covenant) of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) out of the city of Dau'yad, which is Tsa'yun (Tsa'yoon).
3 And all the men of Yashar'AL assembled themselves to the king at the festival, which was the seventh month.
4 And all the elders of Yashar'AL came: and the Lu'ym took up the Ark,
5 and they brought up the Ark, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the Made Apart vessels that were in the Tent, these did the ka’ahn’ym (priests) the Lu'ym bring up.
6 And King Shalamah and all the congregation of Yashar'AL, that were assembled to him, were before the Ark, slaughtering sheep and cattle, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.
7 And the ka’ahn’ym (priests) brought in the Ark of the Bar'yath (covenant) OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) to its place, into the right ruling of the house, to the most Made Apart Place, even under the wings of the karub'ym.
8 For the karub'ym spread forth their wings over the place of the Ark, and the karub'ym covered the Ark and its poles above.
9 And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the Ark before the right ruling, but they were not seen outside: and they are there to this day.
10 There was nothing in the Ark except the two tables which Mashah put in Kharab when 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) made a Bar'yath (covenant) with the children of Yashar'AL, when they came out of Ma’tsara’ym.
11 And it came to be when the ka’ahn’ym (priests) were come out of the Made Apart place, for all the ka’ahn’ym (priests) who were discovered had made themselves apart, and did not keep their divisions,
12 also the Lu'ym who were the singers, to them all, to Asap, to Ha'yaman, to Yada'thun (Yada'thoon), and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them, to one hundred and twenty ka’ahn’ym (priests) sounding with trumpets,
13And it came to be, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): "For He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever!" that then the House was filled with a cloud, even the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH),
14 so that the ka’ahn’ym (priests) could not stand to attend by reason of the cloud: for the esteem of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) filled the house of ALUAH.
CHAPTER 6
1 Then Shalamah said, "𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.
2 But I have built You a House of habitation, and a place for You to abide in forever."
3 And the king turned his face, and he Baruk all the assembly of Yashar'AL: and all the assembly of Yashar'AL stood.
4 And he said, "Baruk Be 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, who spoke with His mouth to Dau'yad my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it saying,
5 'Since the day that I brought forth My people out of the land of Ma’tsara’ym, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Yashar'AL to build a House in, that My Name is there, neither chose I any man to be prince over My people Yashar'AL:
6 but I have chosen Yaru'shalam, that My Name is there, and have chosen Dau'yad to be over My people Yashar'AL.'
7 Now it was in the heart of Dau'yad my father to build a House for The Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL.
8 But 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) said to Dau'yad my father, 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a House for My Name, you did well that it was in your heart:
9 nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build The House For My Name.'
10 ”And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has performed His Word that He spoke, for I have risen up in the place of Dau'yad my father, and sit on the throne of Yashar'AL, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) promised, and have built the House For The Name OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL.
11 There I have put the Ark, in which is the Bar'yath (covenant) OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), which He made with the children of Yashar'AL."
12 And he stood before the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) before all the assembly of Yashar'AL, and spread forth his hands,
13 for Shalamah had made a bronze scaffold, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had put it in the midst of the court, and on it he stood, and kneeled down on his knees before all the assembly of Yashar'AL, and spread forth his hands toward shama'ym,
14 and he said, " O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, there is no ALUAH like you, in shama'ym, or on earth, keeping Bar'yath (covenant) and loving kindness with Your servants, who walk before You with all their heart,
15 who have kept with Your servant Dau'yad my father that which You promised to him: and You spoke with Your mouth, and have fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.
16 "Now therefore, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, keep with Your servant Dau'yad my father that which You have promised him saying, 'There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Yashar'AL, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk in My Thur’ath as you have walked before me.'
17 Now therefore, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, let Your word be true, which You spoke to Your servant Dau'yad.
18 "But will ALUAH indeed abide with men on the earth? Behold, shama'ym and the shama'ym of shama'ym cannot contain you, how much less this House which I have built!
19 Yet turn unto the prayer of Your servant, and to his supplication, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) MY ALUAH, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant prays before You,
20 that Your eyes may be open toward this House day and night, even toward the place where You have said that You would put Your Name, to listen to the prayer that Your servant shall pray toward this place.
21 And hear unto the petitions of Your servant, and of Your people Yashar'AL, when they shall pray toward this place: and You will hear from Your abiding place, even from shama'ym, and when You hear, forgive.
22 "If a man transgresses against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before Your altar in this House,
23 then hear from shama'ym and act, and judge Your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and declaring right the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
24 "If Your people Yashar'AL be struck down before the enemy, because they have transgressed against You, and shall turn again and confess Your Name, and pray and make supplication before You in this House,
25 then hear from shama'ym, and forgive the transgression of Your people Yashar'AL, and bring them again to the land that You gave to them and to their fathers.
26 "When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have transgressed against you, if they pray toward this place, and confess Your Name, and turn from their transgression, when You afflict them:
27 then hear in shama'ym, and forgive the transgression of Your servants, and of Your people Yashar'AL, when You teach them the good way in which they should walk, and send rain on your land, which You have given to Your people for an inheritance.
28 "If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper, if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities, whatever plague or whatever sickness there is,
29 whatever prayer and supplication be made by any man, or by all Your people Yashar'AL, who shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this House:
30 then hear from shama'ym, Your abiding place and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart You know, for You alone, know the hearts of the children of men,
31 that they may fear You, to walk in Your ways, so long as they abide in the land which You gave to our fathers.
32 "Moreover concerning the foreigner, who is not of Your people Yashar'AL, when he shall come from a far land for Your Great Name's sake, and Your mighty hand, and Your outstretched arm, when they shall come and pray toward this House:
33 then hear from shama'ym, even from Your abiding place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to You for, that all the peoples of the earth may know Your Name, and fear You, as does Your people Yashar'AL, and that they may know that this House which I have built is called by Your Name.
34 "If Your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way You shall send them, and they pray to You toward this city that You have chosen, and the House that I have built for Your Name,
35 then hear from shama'ym their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
36 "If they transgress against you, for there is no man who does not sin, and You are angry with them, and give them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to a land far off or near,
37 yet if they shall repent themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity saying, 'We have transgressed, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly,'
38 if they return to You with all their heart and with all their being in the land of their captivity, where they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which You gave to their fathers, and the city that You have chosen, and toward the House that I have built for Your Name:
39 then hear from shama'ym, even from Your abiding place, their prayer and their petitions, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have transgressed against You.
40 "Now, MY ALUAH, let it be so, please, open Your eyes and let Your ears be attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.
41 "Now therefore arise, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH, into Your resting place, You and the Ark of Your strength: let Your ka’ahn’ym (priests), O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH, be clothed with saving, and let Your made apart ones rejoice in goodness.
42 O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH, do not turn away the face of Your anointed: remember for loving kindnesses to Dau'yad Your servant."
CHAPTER 7
1 Now when Shalamah had made an end of praying, fire came down from shama'ym and consumed the burnt offering and the slaughterings, and the esteem of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) filled the house.
2 And the priests could not enter into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), because the esteem of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) filled The House OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
3 And all the children of Yashar'AL looked on when the fire came down, and the esteem of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was on the House, and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped, and gave thanks to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): "For He is good, for His loving kindness endures for ever."
4 Then the king and all the people offered slaughtering before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
5 And King Shalamah offered a slaughtering of twenty and two thousand head of cattle, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the House of ALUAH.
6 And the ka’ahn’ym (priests) stood according to their positions, the Lu'ym also with instruments of music of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), which Dau'yad the king had made to give thanks to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), when Dau'yad praised by their hands: "For His loving kindness endures for ever." And the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sounded trumpets before them, and all Yashar'AL stood.
7 And Shalamah made the middle of the court Made Apart that was before the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), for there he offered the burnt offerings, and the fat of the shalam’ym (peace) offerings, because the bronze altar which Shalamah had made was not able to receive the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat.
8 So Shalamah held the festival at that time seven days, and all Yashar'AL with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Khamath to the brook of Ma’tsara’ym.
9 And on the eighth day they held an assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the festival seven days.
10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had shown to Dau'yad, and to Shalamah, and to Yashar'AL His people.
11 Thus Shalamah finished the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the king's house: and he successfully completed all that came into Shalamah's heart to make in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and in his own house.
12 and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) appeared to Shalamah by night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place to Myself for a House of slaughtering.
13 "If I shut up the sky so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people,
14 if My people, who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from shama'ym, and will forgive their transgression, and will heal their land.
15 Now My eyes shall be open, and My ears attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.
16 For now have I chosen and made this House Made Apart, that My Name is there forever, and My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.
17 "As for you, if you will walk before Me as Dau'yad your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My ordinances,
18 then I will establish the throne of your reign, according as I Barath (covenanted) with Dau'yad your father saying, 'There shall not fail you a man to be ruler in Yashar'AL.'
19 But if you turn away, and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have put before you, and shall go and serve other idols and worship them,
20 then I will pluck them up by the roots out of My land which I have given them, and this House, which I have made Made Apart For My Name, I will cast out of My sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21 This House, which is so high, everyone who passes by it shall be astonished and shall say, 'Why has 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) done thus to this land, and to this house?'
22 And they shall answer, 'Because they abandoned 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Ma’tsara’ym, and took other idols, worshiped them, and served them. Therefore He brought all this evil on them.'"
CHAPTER 8
1 And it came to be at the end of twenty years, in which Shalamah had built the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and his own house,
2 that the cities which Khu'ram had given to Shalamah, Shalamah built them, and caused the children of Yashar'AL to dwell there.
3 And Shalamah went to Khamath Tsu’bah, and prevailed against it.
4 And he built Thadamar in the wilderness, and all the storage cities, which he built in Khamath.
5 Also he built Bayath Khu'run (Khoo'roon) the upper, and Bayath Khu'run (Khoo'roon) the lower, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars,
6 and Ba’al’tha, and all the storage cities that Shalamah had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and all that Shalamah desired to build for his pleasure in Yaru'shalam, and in Laba'nun, and in all the land of his rule.
7 As for all the people who were left of the Khath'ym, and the Amar'ya, and the Paraz'ya, and the Khu'ya, and the Yabus'ya, who were not of Yashar'AL,
8 of their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Yashar'AL did not consume, of them Shalamah conscripted forced labor to this day.
9 But of the children of Yashar'AL did Shalamah make no servants for his work, but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.
10 And these were the chief officers of king Shalamah, even two-hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people.
11 And Shalamah brought up daughter of Para’ah out of the city of Dau'yad to the house that he had built for her, for he said, "My wife shall not abide in the house of Dau'yad king of Yashar'AL, because the places where the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has come are Made Apart."
12 Then Shalamah offered burnt offerings to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) on the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), which he had built before the porch,
13 And in the word of a day in a day, to offering according to the commandment of Mashah, on the Shabath'uth, and on the new months, and on the appointed times, three times in the year, in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of booths.
14 And he appointed, according to the ordinance of Dau'yad his father, the divisions of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) to their service, and the Lu'ym to their offices, to praise, and to attend before the ka’ahn’ym (priests), for the word of a day in its day, the doorkeepers also by their divisions at every gate: for so had Dau'yad the man of ALUAH commanded.
15 And they did not depart from the commandment of the king to the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and Lu'ym concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.
16 Now all the work of Shalamah was prepared to the day of the foundation of the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and until it was finished. The house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was completed.
17 Then went Shalamah to A'tsa'yun Gabar, and to Ayal'uth (Ayal'ooth), on the lip of the sea in the land of Adum.
18 And Khu'ram sent him ships and servants who had knowledge of the sea by the hands of his servants, and they came with the servants of Shalamah to A’up’yarah (A’oop’yarah),* and fetched from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to King Shalamah.
*Compare 9:10
CHAPTER 9
1 When the sovereigness of Shaba heard of the report of Shalamah, she came to prove Shalamah with hard questions at Yaru'shalam, with a very great company, and camels that bore spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Shalamah, she talked with him of all that was in her heart.
2 And Shalamah told her all her questions, and there was not anything hidden from Shalamah which he did not tell her.
3 When the sovereigness of Shaba had seen the discernment of Shalamah, and the House that he had built,
4 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his attends, and their clothing, his cup bearers also, and their clothing, and his ascent by which he went up to the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), there was no more rukh in her.
5 And she said to the king: "It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your discernment.
6 However I did not trust their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it, and behold, the half of the greatness of your discernment was not told me: you exceed the report that I heard.
7 Glad are your men, and joyful are these your servants, who stand continually before you, and hear your discernment.
8 Baruk Be 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH, who delighted in you, to put you on His throne, to be king for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH: because Your ALUAH loved Yashar'AL, to establish them forever, therefore made He you king over them, to do right ruling and righteousness."
9 And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the sovereigness of Shaba gave to king Shalamah.
10 And the servants also of Khu'ram, and the servants of Shalamah, who brought gold from A’up’yar (A’oop’yar),* brought algum trees and precious stones.
*Compare 8:18
11 And the king made of the algum trees terraces for the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and for the king's house, and harps and stringed instruments for the singers: and there were none like these seen before in the land of Yahudah.
12 And King Shalamah gave to the sovereigness of Shaba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides that which she had brought to the king. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Shalamah in one year was six hundred and sixty and six talents of gold,
14 besides that which the traders and merchants brought: and all the kings of Arab and the governors of the land brought gold and silver to Shalamah.
15 And King Shalamah made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold, six hundred of beaten gold went to one buckler.
16 and three hundred shields of beaten gold, three hundred of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Laba'nun.
17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
18 And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.
19 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any reign.
20 And all king Shalamah's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Laba'nun were of pure gold: silver was nothing accounted of in the days of Shalamah.
21 For the king had ships that went to Tharash'yash with the servants of Khu'ram, once every three years came the ships of Tharash'yash, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
22 So King Shalamah exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and discernment.
23 And all the kings of the earth sought the face of Shalamah, to hear his discernment, which ALUAH had put in his heart.
24 And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
25 And Shalamah had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he stationed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Yaru'shalam.
26 And he ruled over all the kings from the River even to the land of the Palash'tha'ym, and to the border of Ma’tsara’ym.
27 And the king made silver to be in Yaru'shalam as stones, and he made cedars to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
28 And they brought horses for Shalamah out of Ma’tsara’ym, and out of all lands.
29 Now the rest of the acts of Shalamah, first and last, are they not written in the books of Nathan the nab’ya (prophet), and in the nabua’tha (prophecy) of Akh'Yah the Sha'yalun'ya (Sha'ya'loon'ya),* and in the visions of Ya'du the seer concerning Yarab'am son of Nabat?
*See Note Below On 10:15
30 And Shalamah reigned in Yaru'shalam over all Yashar'AL forty years.
31 And Shalamah lay down with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of Dau'yad his father: and Rakhab'am his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 10
1 And Rakhab'am went to Shakam, for all Yashar'AL were come to Shakam to make him king.
2 And it came to be, when Yarab'am son of Nabat heard of it, for he was in Ma’tsara’ym, where he had fled from the face of King Shalamah, that Yarab'am returned out of Ma’tsara’ym.
3 And they sent and called him, and Yarab'am and all Yashar'AL came, and they spoke to Rakhab'am saying,
4 "Your father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make you the grievous service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us lighter, and we will serve you."
5 And he said to them, "Come again to me after three days." And the people departed.
6 And King Rakhab'am took counsel with the elders, who had stood before Shalamah his father while he yet abided saying, "What counsel do you give me to return answer to this people?"
7 And they spoke to him saying, "If you are kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever."
8 But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
9 And he said to them, "What counsel do you give, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me saying, 'Make the yoke that your father did put on us lighter?'"
10 And the young men who had grown up with him spoke to him saying, "Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us,' thus you shall say to them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.
11 Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I with scorpions.'"
12 So Yarab'am and all the people came to Rakhab'am the third day, as the king asked, saying: "Come to me again the third day."
13 And the king answered them harsh, and king Rakhab'am forsook the counsel of the elders,
14 and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions."
15 So the king did not listen to the people, for it was brought about of ALUAH that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) might establish His Word, which He spoke by Akh'Yah the Sha’lun'ya (Sha'loon'ya)* to Yarab'am son of Nabat.
*Note The Masoretic difference from 9:29
16 And when all Yashar'AL saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king saying, "What portion have we in Dau'yad? Neither have we inheritance in son of Yasha'ya! Every man to your tents, Yashar'AL! Now see to your own house, Dau'yad." So all Yashar'AL departed to their tents.
17 But as for the children of Yashar'AL who abided in the cities of Yahudah, Rakhab'am reigned over them.
18 Then King Rakhab'am sent Hadaram, who was over the men subject to forced labor, and the children of Yashar'AL stoned him to death with stones. And King Rakhab'am firmly to climb in chariot, to flee to Yaru'shalam.
19 So Yashar'AL rebelled against the house of Dau'yad to this day.
CHAPTER 11
1 And when Rakhab'am was come to Yaru'shalam, he assembled the house of Yahudah and Ban'yaman, one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Yashar'AL, to bring the reign again to Rakhab'am.
2 But the Word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) came to Shama'Yahu the man of ALUAH saying,
3 "Speak to Rakhab'am son of Shalamah, king of Yahudah, and to all Yashar'AL in Yahudah and Ban'yaman saying,
4 'Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), "You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Return every man to his house, for this, the word, is of Me." So they listened to the Words of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) and returned from going against Yarab'am.
5 And Rakhab'am abided in Yaru'shalam and built cities for defense in Yahudah.
6 And he built Bayath Lakham, and Ayatam, and Thaqua,
7 and Bayath Tsur, and Shu'ku (Shoo’koo), and Adalam,
8 and Gath, and Mar'shah, and Zayap,
9 and Adur’ym, and Lak'yash, and Azaqah,
10 and Tsara’ah, and Ayal'un (Ayal’oon), and Kha’brun (Kha’broon), which are in Yahudah and in Ban'yaman, fortified cities.
11 And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
12 and in every city shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. And Yahudah and Ban'yaman belonged to him.
13 And the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym who were in all Yashar'AL resorted to him out of all their border.
14 For the Lu'ym left their open lands and their possessions and came to Yahudah and Yaru'shalam: for Yarab'am and his sons rejected them from serving as ka’ahn (priest) to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH),
15 and he appointed to him ka’ahn’ym (priests) for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
16 And after them, from all the tribes of Yashar'AL, such as put their hearts to seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, came to Yaru'shalam to offer to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
17 So they strengthened the reign of Yahudah, and made Rakhab'am son of Shalamah strong, three years, for they walked three years in the way of Dau'yad and Shalamah.
18 And Rakhab'am took to him a wife, Makhal’tha daughter of Yara'ya'muth (Yara'ya'mooth) son of Dau'yad, Ab’Yah’yal daughter of AL’ya’ab son of Yasha'ya,
19 and she bore to him sons: Ya’ush (Yuh’oosh), and Shamar’Yah, and Za’ahm.
20 And after her he took Makah daughter of Ab'shalum, and she bore to him Ab'Yah, and Atha’ya, and Za’yaza, and Shalam’yth.
21 And Rakhab'am loved Makah daughter of Ab'shalum above all his wives and his concubines: for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty and eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 And Rakhab'am appointed Ab'Yah son of Makah to be chief, the prince among his brothers, for to make him king.
23 And he dealt discernedly, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Yahudah and Ban'yaman, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. And he sought many wives.
CHAPTER 12
1 And it came to be, when the reign of Rakhab'am was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the Thur’ath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and all Yashar'AL with him.
2 And it came to be in the fifth year of King Rakhab'am, that Sha'yashaq king of Ma’tsara’ym came up against Yaru'shalam, because they had trespassed against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH),
3 with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. And the people were without number who came with him out of Ma’tsara’ym: Lub'ym (Loob’ym), Sak’ya’ym, and Kush'ym (Koosh’ym).
4 And he took the fortified cities which pertained to Yahudah, and came to Yaru'shalam.
5 Now Shama'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet) came to Rakhab'am, and to the princes of Yahudah, who were gathered together to Yaru'shalam because of Sha'yashaq and said to them, "Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), 'You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Sha'yashaq.'"
6 Then the princes of Yashar'AL and the king humbled themselves, and they said, "𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is righteous."
7 When 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) saw that they humbled themselves, the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) came to Shama'Yahu saying, "They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them little* for escape, and My wrath shall not be poured out on Yaru'shalam by the hand of Sha'yashaq.
*The literal word here is meat, food, or provision
8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know My service, and the service of the reigns of the lands."
9 So Sha'yashaq king of Ma’tsara’ym came up against Yaru'shalam and took away the treasures of the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the treasures of the king's house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Shalamah had made.
10 And King Rakhab'am made in their place shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.
11 And it was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Yahudah there were good matters.
13 So king Rakhab'am strengthened himself in Yaru'shalam and reigned: for Rakhab'am was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yaru'shalam, the city that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had chosen out of all the tribes of Yashar'AL, to put His Name there: and his mother's name was Nam’ah the Aman'yth.
14 And he did that which was evil, because he did not put his heart to seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
15 Now the acts of Rakhab'am, the first and the last, are they not written in the histories of Shama'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet) and of Ya'du the seer, to the genealogies? And there were wars between Rakhab'am and Yarab'am continually.
16 And Rakhab'am lay down with his fathers, and was buried in the city of Dau'yad: and Ab'Yah his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 13
1 In year eight and ten (eighteen) of king Yarab'am, began Ab'Yah to reign over Yahudah.
2 Three years reigned he in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Mayaka'Yahu daughter of Aura’ya’AL of Gaba’ah. And there was war between Ab'Yah and Yarab'am.
3 And Ab'Yah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Yarab'am put the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
4 And Ab'Yah stood up on Mount Tsamar’ym, which is in the hill land of Apara’ym and said, "Hear me, Yarab'am and all Yashar'AL:
5 Do you not know that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, gave the reign over Yashar'AL to Dau'yad forever, even to him and to his sons by a Bar'yath (covenant) of salt?
6 Yet Yarab'am son of Nabat, the servant of Shalamah son of Dau'yad, rose up and rebelled against his sovereign.
7 And there were gathered to him worthless men, sons of wickedness, who strengthened themselves against Rakhab'am son of Shalamah, when Rakhab'am was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
8 "Now you think to withstand the reign of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) in the hand of sons of Dau'yad, and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Yarab'am made you for idols.
9 Have you not driven out the ka’ahn’ym (priests) of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), sons of A'haran, and the Lu'ym, and made ka’ahn’ym (priests) for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of lands? So that whoever comes to fill himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a ka’ahn’ym (priest) of not idols.
10 "But as for us, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Is Our ALUAH, and we have not forsaken HIm, and ka’ahn’ym (priests) attending to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), sons of A'haran, and the Lu'ym in their work:
11 and they burn to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) every rising and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense: the show bread also in order on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH, but you have forsaken Him.
12 Behold, ALUAH is with us at our Head, and His ka’ahn’ym (priests) and trumpets, the sounding of the alarm against you. O children of Yashar'AL, do not fight against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of your fathers, for you shall not prosper."
13 But Yarab'am caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Yahudah, and the ambush was behind them.
14 And Yahudah looked back and behold, the battle was before and behind them, and they cried to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sounded with the trumpets.
15 Then the men of Yahudah gave a shout: and as the men of Yahudah shouted, And it came to be, that ALUAH struck Yarab'am and all Yashar'AL before Ab'Yah and Yahudah.
16 And the children of Yashar'AL fled before Yahudah, and ALUAH gave them into their hand.
17 And Ab'Yah and his people smote them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Yashar'AL five hundred thousand chosen men.
18 Thus the children of Yashar'AL were brought under at that time, and the children of Yahudah prevailed, because they relied on 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
19 And Ab'Yah pursued after Yarab'am, and took cities from him, Bayath AL with its towns, and Ya’shanah with its towns, and Apara’un (Apar’oon) with its towns.
20 Neither did Yarab'am recover strength again in the days of Ab'Yah: and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) struck him, and he died.
21 But Ab'Yah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22 And the rest of the acts of Ab'Yah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the story of the nab’ya (prophet) Ya'du.
CHAPTER 14
1 So Ab'Yah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of Dau'yad, and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) his ALUAH:
3 for he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and broke down the columns, and cut down the ashar'ym,
4 and commanded Yahudah to seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, and to do the Thurah and the commandment.
5 And he took away out of all the cities of Yahudah the high places and the sun images: and the reign was quiet before him.
6 And he built fortified cities in Yahudah, for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had given him rest.
7 For he said to Yahudah, "Let us build these cities, and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH, we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
8 And Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, from Yahudah three hundred thousand, and from Ban'yaman, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and eighty thousand: all these were mighty men of valor.
9 There came out against them Zarakh the Kush'ya (Koosh'ya) with an army of a million troops, and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mar'shah.
10 Then Asa went out to meet him, and they put the battle in array in the valley of Tsa’pathah at Mar'shah.
11 And Asa cried to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH and said, "O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), there is none besides You to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH, for we rely on You, and in Your Name are we come against this multitude. O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), You Are Our ALUAH. Do not let man prevail against You."
12 So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) struck the Kush'ym before Asa, and before Yahudah, and the Kush'ym fled.
13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Garar: and there fell of the Kush'ym so many that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed to face of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and before his army, and they carried away very much plunder.
14 And they struck all the cities around Garar, for the fear of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) came on them: and they plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.
15 And they struck also the tents of livestock, and carried away sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Yaru'shalam.
CHAPTER 15
1 And RUKH OF ALUAH came on Azar'Yahu son of A'u'dad (Uh’oo’dad)*:
*See Note Below On Verse 8
2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Yahudah and Ban'yaman! 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is with you, while you are with Him, and if you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
3 And many days for Yashar'AL, for no true ALUAH, and for no teaching ka’ahn (priest), and for no Thurah.
4 But when in their distress they turned to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, and sought Him, He was found by them.
5 And in those times there was no shalum (peace) to him who went out, nor to him who came in, but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.
6 And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city, for ALUAH troubled them with all adversity.
7 But you, be strong and do not let your hands be slack, for your work shall be rewarded."
8 And when Asa heard these, the words, and the nabua’ah (prophecy) of Adad* the nab’ya (prophet), he took courage and put away the abominations out of all the land of Yahudah and Ban'yaman, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill land of Apara’ym, and he renewed the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), that was before the porch of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
*Note The Masoretic difference from verse 1
9 And he gathered all Yahudah and Ban'yaman, and those who abided with them from Apara’ym and Mana'shah, and from Shama'un (Shama'oon): for they fell to him out of Yashar'AL in abundance, when they saw that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH was with him.
10 So they gathered themselves together at Yaru'shalam in the third month, in year fifteen of the reign of Asa.
11 And they slaughtered to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) in that day, of the plunder which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.
12 And they entered into the Bar'yath (covenant) to seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their being,
13 and that whoever would not seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14 And they swore to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with ram’s horns.
15 And all Yahudah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought Him with their whole desire, and He was found of them: and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) gave them rest all around.
16 Also Makah, mother of Asa the king, he removed from being sovereigness, because she had made an abominable image for an ashar’ah, and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Qadar'un (Qadar'oon).
17 But the high places were not taken away out of Yashar'AL: nevertheless the heart of Asa was shalam (complete/whole) all his days.
18 And he brought into the house of ALUAH the items that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19 And there was no more war until the thirty and five year of the reign of Asa.
CHAPTER 16
1 In year thirty and six of the reign of Asa, Basha king of Yashar'AL went up against Yahudah and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Yahudah.
2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) and of the king's house, and sent to Ban Hadad king of Aram, who abided in Damashaq saying,
3 "Let there be a Bar’yath (treaty) between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your Bar’yath (treaty) with Basha king of Yashar'AL, that he may depart from me."
4 And Ban Hadad listened to King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yashar'AL, and they struck Ayun (Uh’yoon), and Dan, and Abal Ma’ym (Ma’yam), and all the storage cities of Nap'thal'ya.
5 And it came to be, when Basha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease.
6 Then Asa the king took all Yahudah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, with which Basha had built, and he built therewith Gaba and the Ma’tsapah.
7 And at that time Khanan'ya the seer came to Asa king of Yahudah, and said to him, "Because you have relied on king of Aram, and have not relied on 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH, therefore is the army of king of Aram escaped out of your hand.
8 Were not the Kush'ym and the Lub'ym a huge army, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? Yet, because you relied on 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), He gave them into your hand.
9 For the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is shalam (complete/whole) toward him. Herein you have done foolishly, for from henceforth you shall have wars."
10 Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison, for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.
11 And behold, the acts of Asa, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yahudah and Yashar'AL.
12 And in year thirty and nine of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet, his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he did not seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), but to the physicians.
13 And Asa lay down with his fathers, and died in year forty and one of his reign.
14 And they buried him in his own tombs, which he had dug out for himself in the city of Dau'yad, and laid him in the bed which was filled with filled with spices, and various kinds of mixtures with perfumed work: and they made a very great burning for him.
CHAPTER 17
1 And Yahu'shapat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Yashar'AL.
2 And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Yahudah, and put garrisons in the land of Yahudah, and in the cities of Apara’ym, which Asa his father had taken.
3 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was with Yahu'shapat, because he walked in the first ways of his father Dau'yad, and did not seek to Ba'al'ym,
4 but sought to The ALUAH of his father, and walked in His commandments, and not after the acts of Yashar'AL.
5 Therefore 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) established the reign in his hand, and all Yahudah brought to Yahu'shapat tribute, and he had riches and esteem in abundance.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): and furthermore he took away the high places and the ashar'ym out of Yahudah.
7 Also in year three of his reign, he sent for his princes, for Ban Kha’yal, and for Abada’Yah, and for Zakara’Yah, and for Nathan’AL, and for Mayaka'Yahu, to teach in the cities of Yahudah,
8 and with them the Lu'ym, even Shama'Yahu, and Nathan’Yahu, and Zabada’Yahu, and Ashah’AL, and Sham’yaram’uth, and Yahu’nathan, and Adan’Yahu, and Tuba’Yahu, and Tub (Toob) Adun’Yah, the Lu'ym, and with them AL’ya’shama and Yahu'ram the ka’ahn’ym (priests).
9 And they taught in Yahudah, having the Book of the Thur’ath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with them, and they went about throughout all the cities of Yahudah, and taught among the people.
10 And the fear of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) fell on all the reigns of the lands that were around Yahudah, so that they made no war against Yahu'shapat.
11 And from the Palash'tha'ym brought Yahu'shapat gifts, and silver for tribute, the Arab’ya’ym also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 And Yahu'shapat grew great exceedingly, and he built in Yahudah castles and cities of store.
13 And he had many works in the cities of Yahudah, and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Yaru'shalam.
14 And these are the appointments for their fathers' houses: For Yahudah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand,
15 and next to him Yahu'khanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand,
16 and next to him Amasa’Yah son of Zakara'ya, who willingly offered himself to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 And from Ban'yaman: AL’yada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield,
18 and next to him Yahu'zabad and with him one hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for war.
19 These were the servants of the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Yahudah.
CHAPTER 18
1 Now Yahu'shapat had riches and esteem in abundance, and he joined affinity* with Akh'ab.
*In context this is talking about marriage
2 To end of years he went down to Akh'ab to Shamar'un (Shamar’oon). And Akh'ab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up to Ram'uth Gal'ad.
3 And Akh'ab king of Yashar'AL said to Yahu'shapat king of Yahudah, "Will you go with me to Ram'uth Gal'ad?" And he answered him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war."
4 And Yahu'shapat said to the king of Yashar'AL, "Please inquire first for the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)."
5 Then the king of Yashar'AL gathered the nab’ya’ym (prophets) together, four hundred men and said to them, "Shall we go to Ram'uth Gal'ad to battle, or shall I forbear?" And they said, "Go up, for ALUAH will give it into the hand of the king."
6 But Yahu'shapat said, "Is there not here a nab’ya (prophet) of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) still, that we may inquire of him?"
7 And the king of Yashar'AL said to Yahu'shapat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), but I hate him, for he never nab’a (prophesies) good concerning me, but always evil. He is Mayaka'Yahu son of Ya’mala.”* And Yahu'shapat said, "Do not let the king say so."
8 Then the king of Yashar’AL called an officer, and said, "Get Mayaka'Yahu son of Ya’mala quickly."
*In both these verses, the AL letter is used at the end of the name. However, in 1 Malak’ym 22:8-9, the HA letter is used at the end of the name instead
9 And the king of Yashar'AL and Yahu'shapat king of Yahudah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Shamar'un, and all the nab’ya’ym (prophets) were nab’a’ym (prophesying) before them.
10 And Tsadaqa'Yahu son of Kanan'ah made him horns of iron and said, "Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), 'With these you shall push Aram until they are consumed.'"
11 And all the nab’a’ym (prophets) nab’a’ym (prophesied) so, saying: "Go up to Ram'uth Gal'ad, and prosper, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) will give it into the hand of the king."
12 And the messenger who went to call Mayaka'Yahu spoke to him saying, "Behold, the words of the nab’a’ym (prophets) good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good."
13 And Mayaka'Yahu said, "As 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Abides, what MY ALUAH says, that will I speak."
14 When he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Mayaka'Yahu, shall we go to Ram'uth Gal'ad to battle, or shall I forbear?" And he said, "Go up and prosper. And they shall be given into your hand."
15 And the king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in The Name OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)?"
16 And he said, "I saw all Yashar'AL scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) said, 'These have no sovereign. Let them return every man to his house in shalum (peace.)’”
17 And the king of Yashar'AL said to Yahu'shapat, "Did I not tell you that he would not nab’a (prophesy) good concerning me, but evil?"
18 And he said, "Therefore hear the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): I saw 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) sitting on His throne, and all the army of shama'ym standing on His right hand and on His left.
19 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) said, 'Who shall entice Akh'ab king of Yashar'AL, that he may go up and fall at Ram'uth Gal'ad?' And one spoke saying this, and another saying that.
20 And a rukh came out, stood before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) and said, 'I will entice him.' “And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) said to him, ‘in how?'
21 “And he said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying rukh in the mouth of all his nab’ya’ya (prophets).’ “And He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.'
22 "Now therefore, behold, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has put a lying rukh in the mouth of these your nab’ya’ya (prophets), and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has spoken evil concerning you."
23 Then Tsadaqa'Yahu, son of Kanan'ah, came near and struck Mayaka'Yahu on the cheek and said, "What way did THE RUKH OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) pass over from me to speak to you?"
24 And Mayaka'Yahu said, "Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself."
25 And the king of Yashar'AL said, "Take Mayaka'Yahu, and carry him back to Amun the governor of the city, and to Yahu'ash the king's son,
26 and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this [one] in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in shalum (peace).”
27 And Mayaka'Yahu said, "If you return at all in shalum (peace), 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has not spoken by me." And he said, “Hear, all you people!”
28 So the king of Yashar'AL and Yahu'shapat king of Yahudah went up to Ram'uth Gal'ad.
29 And the king of Yashar'AL said to Yahu'shapat, "I will disguise myself, and go into the battle, but you put on your robes." So the king of Yashar'AL disguised himself, and they went into the battle.
30 Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots saying, "Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Yashar'AL."
31 And it came to be, when the captains of the chariots saw Yahu'shapat, that they said, "It is the king of Yashar'AL!" Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Yahu'shapat cried out, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) helped him, and ALUAH moved them to depart from him.
32 And it came to be, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Yashar'AL, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33 And a man drew his bow to integrity, and struck the king of Yashar'AL between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army, for I am severely wounded."
34 And the battle increased that day. However the king of Yashar'AL propped himself up in his chariot against Aram until the evening, and to the time of the going down of the sun, he died.
CHAPTER 19
1 And Yahu'shapat king of Yahudah returned to his house in shalum (peace) to Yaru'shalam.
2 And Yahu'a son of Khanan'ya the seer went out to meet him and said to King Yahu'shapat, "Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)? Because of this, wrath is on you from before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
3 Nevertheless there are good matters found in you, in that you have put away the ashar'uth out of the land, and have put your heart to seek ALUAH."
4 And Yahu'shapat abided in Yaru'shalam: and he went out again among the people from Ba'ar Shaba to the mountain of Apara’ym, and brought them back to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
5 And he stood judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Yahudah, city by city,
6 and said to the judges, "Consider what you do: for you do not judge for man, but for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and who is with you in the judgment.
7 Now therefore let the fear of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) be on you. Take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes."
8 And moreover in Yaru'shalam, Yahu'shapat appointed Lu'ym and ka’ahn’ym (priests), and of the heads of the fathers' of Yashar'AL, for the judgment of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and for controversies. And they returned to Yaru'shalam.
9 And he commanded them, saying, "Thus you shall do in the fear of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), trustfully, and with a shalam (complete/whole) heart.
10 Whenever any controversy shall come to you from your brothers who dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between Thurah and commandment, statutes and ordinances, you shall warn them, that they not be guilty towards 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and so wrath come on you and on your brothers. Do this, and you shall not be guilty.
11 Behold, Amar'Yahu the chief ka’ahn (priest) is over you in all matters of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and Zabada’Yahu son of Ya'shama'AL, the ruler of the house of Yahudah, in all the king's matters: also the Lu'ym shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and may 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) be with the good."
CHAPTER 20
1 And it came to be after this, that the children of Mu'ab, and the children of Amun, and with them some of the Amun'ym, came against Yahu'shapat to battle.
2 Then some came who told Yahu'shapat saying, "A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Aram. And behold, they are in Kha’tsa’tsa’un (Kha’tsa’tsa’oon) Thamar,” that is, Ayan Gad’ya.
3 And Yahu'shapat was alarmed, and gave himself to seek to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). And he proclaimed a fast throughout all Yahudah.
4 And Yahudah gathered themselves together, to seek help from 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). And they came out of all the cities of Yahudah to seek 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
5 And Yahu'shapat stood in the assembly of Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), before the new court,
6 and he said, “O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of our fathers, are You not ALUAH in shama'ym? Are You not ruler over all the reigns of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, so that no one is able to withstand You.
7 Did not You, Our ALUAH, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Yashar'AL, and give it to the seed of Abara’ahm Your friend forever?
8 And they abided in it, and have built You a Made Apart Place in it for Your Name, saying,
9 'If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you, for Your Name is in this house, and cry to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.'
10 Now behold, the children of Amun and Mu'ab and Mount Sha'yar, whom You would not let Yashar'AL invade, when they came out of the land of Ma’tsara’ym, but they turned aside from them, and did not destroy them,
11 behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of Your possession, which You have given us to inherit.
12 O Our ALUAH, will You not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us, neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on You."
13 And all Yahudah stood before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 Then THE RUKH OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) came on Ya’khaza’ya’AL son of Zakara'Yahu, son of Ban'Yah, son of Ya'ya'AL (Yuh'ya'AL), son of Mathan'Yah, the Lu'ya, of sons of Asap, in the midst of the assembly,
15 and he said, "Listen, all Yahudah, and inhabitants of Yaru'shalam, and the King Yahu'shapat. Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) to you, 'Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude, for the battle is not to yours, but to ALUAH.
16 Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of the Tsa’yats. And you shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Yaru’AL.
17 You will not need to fight this battle. Place yourselves, stand still, and see the saving of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with you, O Yahudah and Yaru'shalam. Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is with you.'"
18 And Yahu'shapat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Yahudah and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam fell down before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to bowing before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
19 And the Lu'ym, of the children of the Qa'ah'tha'ym and of the children of the Qara'kha'ym, stood up to praise 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, with an exceeding loud voice.
20 And they rose early in the rising, and went forth into the wilderness of Thaqua: and as they went forth, Yahu'shapat stood and said, "Listen to me, Yahudah, and you inhabitants of Yaru'shalam! The trust in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH, so you shall be established! The trust his nab’ya’ym (prophets), so you shall prosper."
21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and give praise in Made Apart array, as they went out before the army and say: Give thanks to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), for His loving kindness endures forever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) placed ambushers against the children of Amun, Mu'ab, and Mount Sha'yar, who had come against Yahudah, and they were struck.
23 For the children of Amun and Mu'ab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Sha'yar, utterly to kill and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Sha'yar, everyone helped to destroy another.
24 And when Yahudah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude, and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.
25 And when Yahu'shapat and his people came to take the plunder of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the plunder, it was so much.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Barakah, for there they Barak 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): therefore the name of that place was called The Valley Of Barakah to this day.
27 Then they returned, every man of Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, and Yahu'shapat in the forefront of them, to go again to Yaru'shalam with joy, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 And they came to Yaru'shalam with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets to the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
29 And the fear of ALUAH was on all the reigns of the lands, when they heard that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) fought against the enemies of Yashar'AL.
30 So the realm of Yahu'shapat was quiet, for His ALUAH gave him rest all around.
31 And Yahu'shapat reigned over Yahudah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shalakah’ya.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and did not turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
33 However the high places were not taken away, neither as yet had the people put their hearts to The ALUAH of their fathers.
34 Now the rest of the acts of Yahu'shapat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Yahu'a son of Khanan'ya, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Yashar'AL.
35 After this did Yahu'shapat king of Yahudah join himself with Akhaz'Yah* king of Yashar'AL, the same did very wickedly:
*The only place in this Book where the Masoretic does not include the oo in his name
36 and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tharash'yash, and they made the ships in A'tsa'yun Gabar.
37 Then AL’ya’azar son of Dadu’Yahu from Mar'shah nab’a (prophesied) against Yahu'shapat saying, "Because you have joined yourself with Akhaz'Yahu, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has destroyed your works." And the ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tharash'yash.
CHAPTER 21
1 And Yahu'shapat lay down with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of Dau'yad: and Yahu'ram his son reigned in his place.
2 And to him, brothers, sons of Yahu'shapat: Azar'Yahu, and Ya'kha'ya'AL, and Zakara'Yahu, and Azar'Yahu, and Maya’ka’AL, and Shapata’Yahu, all these were sons of Yahu'shapat king of Yashar'AL.
3 And their father gave them great gifts, of silver and of gold, and of delicacies, with fortified cities in Yahudah: but the reign gave he to Yahu'ram, because he was the firstborn.
4 Now when Yahu'ram was risen up over the reign of his father, and had strengthened himself, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and various also of the princes of Yashar'AL.
5 And Yahu'ram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Yaru'shalam.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Yashar'AL, as did the house of Akh'ab, for he had daughter of Akh'ab as wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
7 However 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) would not destroy the house of Dau'yad, because of the Bar'yath (covenant) that He had made with Dau'yad, and as He promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.
8 In his days Adum revolted from under the hand of Yahudah, and made a king over themselves.
9 Then Yahu'ram passed over with his captains, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and struck Adum who surrounded him, along with the captains of the chariots.
10 So Adum revolted from under the hand of Yahudah to this day: then did Labanah revolt at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of his fathers.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Yahudah, and made the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam to commit whoredom, and led Yahudah astray.
12 And a letter came to him from AL'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet) saying, "Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of Dau'yad your father, 'Because you have not walked in the ways of Yahu'shapat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Yahudah,
13 but have walked in the way of the kings of Yashar'AL, and have made Yahudah and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam to commit whoredom, like the house of Akh'ab did, and also have slain your brothers of your father's house, who were better than yourself:
14 behold, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) will strike with a great plague your people, and your children, and your wives, and all your substance,
15 and you shall have great sickness by disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.'"
16 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) stirred up against Yahu'ram the rukh of the Palash'tha'ym, and of the Arab'ym who are beside the Kush'ym:
17 and they came up against Yahudah, and broke into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives, so that there was never a son left him, except Yahu'akhaz, the youngest of his sons.
18 After all this 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19 And it came to be, to days from days, and according to time, at the end of two years, that his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Yaru'shalam eight years: and he departed without being desired, and they buried him in the city of Dau'yad, but not in the tombs of the kings.
CHAPTER 22
1 And the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam made Akhaz'Yahu his youngest son king in his place, for the band of men who came with the Arab'ym to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Akhaz'Yahu son of Yahu'ram king of Yahudah reigned.
2 Forty and two years old was Akhaz'Yahu when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Athal'Yahu daughter of Amar’ya.
3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Akh'ab, for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.
4 And he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as did the house of Akh'ab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.
5 He walked also after their counsel, and went with Yahu'ram son of Akh'ab king of Yashar'AL to war against Khaz’AL* king of Aram at Ram'uth Gal'ad: and Aram wounded Yahu'ram.
*See Note On Verse 6 Below
6 And he returned to be healed in Ya'zara'AL of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Khazah’AL* king of Aram. And Azar'Yahu son of Yahu'ram king of Yahudah went down to see Yahu'ram son of Akh'ab in Ya'zara'AL, because he was sick.
*Note how the Masoretic contains the AH letter in this verse, but not in the verse above for his name
7 Now the destruction of Akhaz'Yahu was of ALUAH, in that he went to Yahu'ram: for when he was come, he went out with Yahu'ram against Yahu'a son of Namash’ya, whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had anointed to cut off the house of Akh'ab.
8 And it came to be, when Yahu'a was executing judgment on the house of Akh'ab, that he found the princes of Yahudah, and sons of the brothers of Akhaz'Yahu, attending to Akhaz'Yahu, and killed them.
9 And he sought Akhaz'Yahu, and they caught him, and he was hiding in Shamar'un, and they brought him to Yahu'a and killed him, and they buried him, for they said, "He is son of Yahu'shapat, who sought 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with all his heart." And the house of Akhaz'Yahu had no power to hold the reign.
10 And when Athal'Yahu mother of Akhaz'Yahu saw that her son was dead, and she arose and destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Yahudah.
11 But Yahu'shaba'tha, daughter of the king, took Yahu'ash son of Akhaz'Yahu, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Yahu'shaba'tha, daughter of king Yahu'ram, the wife of Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest), for she was the sister of Akhaz'Yahu, hid him from Athal'Yahu, so that she did not kill him.
12 And he was with them hidden in the house of ALUAH six years: and Athal'Yahu reigned over the land.
CHAPTER 23
1 In the seventh year Yahu'yada strengthened himself and took the captains of hundreds, Azar'Yahu son of Ya’rakham, and Ya'shama'AL son of Yahu'khanan, and Azar'Yahu son of A'u'bad (Uh'oo'bad), and Ma'asha'Yahu son of Ada’Yahu, and AL'ya'shapat son of Zakara'ya, into Bar'yath (covenant) with him.
2 And they went about in Yahudah, and gathered the Lu'ym out of all the cities of Yahudah, and the heads of fathers' of Yashar'AL, and they came to Yaru'shalam.
3 And all the assembly made a Bar'yath (covenant) with the king in the house of ALUAH. And he said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has spoken concerning sons of Dau'yad.
4 This is the word that you shall do. The third part of you, who enter on the Shabath, of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and of the Lu'ym, shall be porters of the thresholds.
5 And the third part shall be at the king's house, and the third part at the gate of the foundation. And all the people shall be in the courts of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
6 But let no one come into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), except the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and those who attend of the Lu'ym. They shall come in, for they are Made Apart, but all the people, they shall follow 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)'s instructions.
7 And the Lu'ym shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out."
8 So the Lu'ym and all Yahudah did according to all that Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest) commanded: and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Shabath, with those who were to go out on the Shabath, for Yahu'yada the priest did not dismiss the divisions.
9 And Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest) gave to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been King Dau'yad's, which were in the house of ALUAH.
10 And he placed all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and the witness, and made him king: and Yahu'yada and his sons anointed him, and they said, “KhaYah (abide) the king!"
12 And when Athal'Yahu heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH):
13 and she looked and, behold, the king stood by his column at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets, the singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athal'Yahu tore her clothes and said, "Treason! treason!"
14 And Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest) brought out the captains of hundreds who were placed over the army, and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks, and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword." For the ka’ahn (priest) said, "Do not kill her in The House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)."
15 So they made way for her, and she went to the entrance of the horse gate to the king's house, and they killed her there.
16 And Yahu'yada made a Bar'yath (covenant) between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)'s people.
17 And all the people went to the house of Ba'al, and broke it down, and broke his altars and his images in pieces, and killed Mathan the ka’ahn (priest) of Ba'al before the altars.
18 And Yahu'yada appointed the officers of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) under the hand of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) the Lu'ym, whom Dau'yad had distributed in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to offer the burnt offerings of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as it is written in the Thur’ath of Mashah, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of Dau'yad.
19 And he put the porters at the gates of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), that no one who was unclean in anything should enter in.
20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): and they came through the upper gate to the king's house, and placed the king on the throne of the reign.
21 So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. And Athal'Yahu they had slain with the sword.
CHAPTER 24
1 Yahu'ash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Tsaba’Yah, of Ba'ar Shaba.
2 And Yahu'ash did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) all the days of Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest).
3 And Yahu'yada took for him two wives, and he became the father of sons and daughters.
4 And it came to be after this, that Yahu'ash was with heart to restore the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
5 And he gathered together the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and the Lu'ym and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Yahudah, and gather silver to repair the house of your ALUAH from all Yashar'AL from year to year. See that you expedite this matter." However, the Lu'ym did not hurry it.
6 And the king called for Yahu'yada the chief and said to him, "Why have you not required of the Lu'ym to bring in the tribute of Mashah the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and of the assembly of Yashar'AL, out of Yahudah and out of Yaru'shalam, for the tent of the witness?"
7 For sons of Athal'Yahu, the wicked woman, had broken up the house of ALUAH, and also all the dedicated items of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) did they bestow to the Ba'al'ym.
8 So the king commanded, and they made a chest, and put it outside at the gate of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
9 And they made a proclamation through Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, to bring in for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) the tribute that Mashah the servant of ALUAH laid on Yashar'AL in the wilderness.
10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.
11 And it was so, that whenever the chest was brought to the king's officers by the hand of the Lu'ym, and when they saw that there was much of the silver, the king's scribe and the chief priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered silver in abundance.
12 And the king and Yahu'yada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and also such as worked iron and bronze to repair the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
13 So the workmen worked, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands, and they put up the house of ALUAH in its state, and strengthened it.
14 And when they had made an end, they brought the rest of the silver before the king and Yahu'yada, of which were made vessels for the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), even vessels with which to attend and to offer, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) continually all the days of Yahu'yada.
15 But Yahu'yada grew old and was full of days, and he died, one hundred and thirty years old was he when he died.
16 And they buried him in the city of Dau'yad among the kings, because he had done good in Yashar'AL, and toward ALUAH and His House.
17 Now after the death of Yahu'yada came the princes of Yahudah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king listened to them.
18 And they forsook the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, and served the ashar'ym and the idols: and wrath came on Yahudah and Yaru'shalam for this their guiltiness.
19 Yet He sent nab’a’ym (prophets) to them, to bring them again to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and they witnessed against them: but they would not give ear.
20 And THE RUKH OF ALUAH came on Zakara'Yahu son of Yahu'yada the priest, and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus says ALUAH, 'Why do you disobey the commandments of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), He has also forsaken you.'"
21 And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
22 Thus Yahu'ash the king did not remember the kindness which Yahu'yada his father had done to him, but killed his son. When he died he said, “𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) look and repay."
23 And it came to be at the turn of the year, that the army of Aram came up against him: and they came to Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the plunder of them to king of Damashaq.
24 For the army of Aram came with a small company of men, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) gave a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers. So they executed judgment on Yahu'ash.
25 And when they were departed for him, for they left him very ill, his own servants conspired against him for the blood of sons of Yahu'yada the ka’ahn (priest), and killed him on his bed, and he died, and they buried him in the city of Dau'yad, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.
26 And these are those who conspired against him: Zabad son of Shama’tha the Aman'yth, and Yahu'zabad son of Shamar’yth the Mu'ab’yth.
27 Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens on him, and the rebuilding of the house of ALUAH, behold, they are written in the commentary of the book of the kings. And Amatsa'Yahu his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 25
1 And Amatsa'Yahu was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Yahu’adan from Yaru'shalam.
2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), but not with a shalam (complete/whole) heart.
3 And it came to be, when the reign was established to him, that he killed his servants who had killed the king his father.
4 But he did not put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the Thurah in the Book of Mashah, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) commanded saying, "The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own transgression.”
5 Moreover Amatsa'Yahu gathered Yahudah together, and ordered them according to their fathers' houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Yahudah and Ban'yaman: and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to war, who could handle spear and shield.
6 And he hired also one hundred thousand mighty men of valor out of Yashar'AL for one hundred talents of silver.
7 And a man of ALUAH came to him, saying, "O king, do not let the army of Yashar'AL go with you, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is not with Yashar'AL, with all the children of Apara’ym.
8 But if you will go, perform, be strong for the battle. ALUAH will overthrow you before the enemy, for ALUAH has power to help, and to overthrow."
9 And Amatsa'Yahu said to the man of ALUAH, "But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Yashar'AL?" And the man of ALUAH answered, "𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is able to give you much more than this."
10 Then Amatsa'Yahu separated them, the army that had come to him out of Apara’ym, to go home again: therefore their anger was greatly kindled against Yahudah, and they returned home in fierce anger.
11 And Amatsa'Yahu took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck of the children of Sha'yar ten thousand.
12 And ten thousand did the children of Yahudah took captive khaYah (living), and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.
13 But the men of the army whom Amatsa'Yahu sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell on the cities of Yahudah, from Shamar'un even to Bayath Khu'run (Khoo'roon), and struck of them three thousand, and took much plunder.
14 And it came to be, after that Amatsa'Yahu was come from the slaughter of Adum, that he brought the idols of the sons of Sha'yar, and put them up to be his idols, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense to them.
15 Therefore the anger of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was kindled against Amatsa'Yahu, and He sent to him a prophet, who said to him, "Why have you sought after the idols of the people, which have not rescued their own people out of your hand?"
16 And it came to be, as he talked with him, that he said to him, "Have we made you one of the king's counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" Then the nab’ya (prophet) stopped and said, "I know that ALUAH has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel."
17 Then Amatsa'Yahu king of Yahudah consulted his advisers, and sent to Yahu'ash, son of Yahu'akhaz son of Yahu'a, king of Yashar'AL saying, "Come, let us look one another in the face."
18 And Yahu'ash king of Yashar'AL sent to Amatsa'Yahu, king of Yahudah, saying, "The thistle that was in Laba'nun sent to the cedar that was in Laba'nun saying, 'Give your daughter to my son as his wife, then a wild beast that was in Laba'nun passed by, and trampled down the thistle.
19 You say to yourself that you have struck Adum, and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you stir up with evil, that you should fall, even you, and Yahudah with you?'"
20 But Amatsa'Yahu would not listen, for it was of ALUAH, that He might give them into the hand, because they had sought after the idols of Adum.
21 So Yahu'ash king of Yashar'AL went up, and he and Amatsa'Yahu king of Yahudah looked one another in the face at Bayath Shamash, which belongs to Yahudah.
22 And Yahudah was defeated by Yashar'AL, and they fled every man to his tent.
23 And Yahu'ash king of Yashar'AL took Amatsa'Yahu king of Yahudah, son of Yahu'ash son of Yahu'akhaz, at Bayath Shamash, and brought him to Yaru'shalam, and broke down the wall of Yaru'shalam from the gate of Apara’ym to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
24 and all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of ALUAH with A'u'bad (Uh'oo'bad)-Adum, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Shamar'un.
25 And Amatsa'Yahu son of Yahu'ash king of Yahudah abided after the death of Yahu'ash son of Yahu'akhaz king of Yashar'AL fifteen years.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Amatsa'Yahu, the first and the last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Yahudah and Yashar'AL?
27 Now from the time that Amatsa'Yahu did turn away from following 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) they made a conspiracy against him in Yaru'shalam, and he fled to Lak'yash’ah: but they sent after him to Lak'yash’ah, and killed him there.
28 And they brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the city of Yahudah.
CHAPTER 26
1 And all the people of Yahudah took Aza'Yahu, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amatsa'Yahu.
2 He built Ayal'uth (Ayal'ooth), and restored it to Yahudah, after that the king lay down with his fathers.
3 Sixteen years old was Aza'Yahu when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Yakal’Yah from Yaru'shalam.
4 And he did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), according to all that his father Amatsa'Yahu had done.
5 And he [was] for seeking ALUAH in the days of Zakara'Yahu, who had understanding in the vision of ALUAH: and as long as he sought 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), ALUAH made him to prosper.
6 And he went forth and warred against the Palash'tha'ym, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Yabanah, and the wall of Ash'dud, and he built cities in Ash'dud, and among the Palash'tha'ym.
7 And ALUAH helped him against the Palash'tha'ym, and against the Arab'ym who abided in Gur Ba'al, and the Ma’un’ym.
8 And the Amun'ym gave tribute to Aza'Yahu: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Ma’tsara’ym, for he grew exceeding strong.
9 Moreover Aza'Yahu built towers in Yaru'shalam at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning, and he fortified them.
10 And he built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock, in the lowland also, and in the plain: farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields, for he loved the ground.
11 Moreover Aza'Yahu had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Ya'ya'AL (Yuh'ya'AL) the scribe and Ma'asha'Yahu the officer, under the hand of Khanan'yaah, one of the king's captains.
12 And the whole number of the heads of fathers', even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.
13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 And Aza'Yahu prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
15 And he made in Yaru'shalam devices, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad, for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH, for he went into the Hayakal of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17 And Azar'Yahu the ka’ahn (priest) went in after him, and with him eighty ka’ahn’ym (priests) of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), who were valiant men:
18 and they resisted Aza'Yahu the king and said to him, "It is not for you, Aza'Yahu, to burn incense to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), but for the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sons of A'haran, who are made apart to burn incense. Go out of the Made Apart Place, for you have trespassed, neither shall it be for your esteem from 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH."
19 Then Aza'Yahu was angry, and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the ka’ahn’ym (priests), the leprosy broke forth in his forehead to the face of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), beside the altar of incense.
20 And Azar'Yahu the chief ka’ahn’ym (priest), and all the ka’ahn’ym (priests), looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there. And also, he hurried to go out, because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) had struck him.
21 And Aza'Yahu the king was a leper to the day of his death, and abided in a separate house, being a leper, for he was cut off from the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH): and Yahu'tham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Aza'Yahu, the first and the last, did Yasha'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet), son of Amuts (Amoots), write.
23 So Aza'Yahu lay down with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings, for they said: "He is a leper." And Yahu'tham his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 27
1 Yahu'tham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Yaru’shah* daughter of Tsaduq.

2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), according to all that his father Aza'Yahu had done: however he did not enter into the Hayakal of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). And the people acted corruptly.
3 And he built the upper gate of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and on the wall of the Apal he built much.
4 Moreover he built cities in the mountain of Yahudah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
5 And he fought with king of the children of Amun and prevailed against them. And the children of Amun gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Amun render to him, in the second year also, and in the third.
6 So Yahu'tham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH.
7 Now the rest of the acts of Yahu'tham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yashar'AL and Yahudah.
8 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, he reigned sixteen years in Yaru'shalam.
9 And Yahu'tham lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of Dau'yad: and Akhaz his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 28
1 Akhaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Yaru'shalam: and he did not do that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as Dau'yad his father,
2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Yashar'AL, and made also molten images for the Ba'al'ym.
3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of son of Hanam, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) cast out before the children of Yashar'AL.
4 And he slaughtered and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5 Therefore 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH gave him into the hand of king of Aram, and they struck him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damashaq. And he was also given into the hand of king of Yashar'AL, who struck him with a great slaughter.
6 For Paqakh son of Ramal'Yahu killed in Yahudah one hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men, because they had forsaken 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
7 And Zakara'ya, a mighty man of Apara’ym, killed Ma'asha'Yahu the king's son, and Azar’yaqam the ruler of the house, and AL’qanah who was next to the king.
8 And the children of Yashar'AL carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand, women,* sons, and daughters, and took also away much plunder from them, and brought the plunder to Shamar'un.
*This word can also translate as wives
9 But a nab’ya (prophet) of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was there, whose name was Adad: and he went out to meet the army that came to Shamar'un and said to them, "Behold, because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of your fathers, was angry with Yahudah, he has given them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to shama'ym.
10 And now you purpose to keep under the children of Yahudah and Yaru'shalam for bondservants and bondmaids for yourselves. Are there not even with you trespasses of your own against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH?
11 Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that you have taken captive from your brothers, for the fierce wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) is on you."
12 Then some of the heads of the children of Apara’ym, Azar'Yahu son of Yahu’khanan, Barak’Yahu son of Ma’shalam’uth, and Ya’Khazaqa’Yahu son of Shalam, and Amasha son of Khadal’ya, stood up against those who came from the war,
13 and said to them, "You shall not bring in the captives here: for you purpose that which will bring on us a trespass against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to add to our transgressions and to our trespass, for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Yashar'AL."
14 So the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the princes and all the assembly.
15 And the men who have been designated by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the plunder clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them, gave them sandals, and gave them something to eat and to drink, anointed them, carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Yara’khu, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Shamar'un.
16 At that time King Akhaz sent to the kings of Ashur to help him.
17 For again Adum had come and struck Yahudah, and they carried away captives.
18 And the Palash'tha'ym also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Yahudah, and had taken Bayath Shamash, and Ayal'un , and Gadar’uth, and Shu'ku (Shoo’koo) with its towns, and Tha’manah with its towns, Gam’zu also and its towns: and they abided there.
19 For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) brought Yahudah low because of Akhaz king of Yashar'AL, for he was unrestrained in Yahudah, and trespassed severely against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
20 And Thagal'tha Pal'asar king of Ashur came to him, and distressed him, but did not strengthen him.
21 For Akhaz took away a portion out of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to king of Ashur: but it did not help him.
22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), this same King Akhaz.
23 For he slaughtered to the idols of Damashaq, which struck him, and he said, "Because the idols of the kings of Aram helped them, so I will slaughter unto them, that they may help me." But they were the ruin of him, and of all Yashar'AL.
24 And Akhaz gathered together the vessels of the House of ALUAH, and cut in pieces the vessels of the House of ALUAH, and shut up the doors of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and he made him altars in every corner of Yaru'shalam.
25 And in every city of Yahudah he made high places to burn incense to other idols, and provoked to anger 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of his fathers.
26 Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yahudah and Yashar'AL.
27 And Akhaz lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Yaru'shalam, for they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Yashar'AL: And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu* his son reigned in his place.
*In some places like here, the Masoretic inserts a yad letter in front of his name… His name (Hezekiah in the English) has at least 3 different Masoretic variations
CHAPTER 29
1 Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu began to reign when he was twenty and five years old, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Yaru'shalam: and his mother's name was Ab'Yah, daughter of Zakara'Yahu.
2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), according to all that Dau'yad his father had done.
3 He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) and repaired them.
4 and he brought in the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east,
5 and said to them, "Listen to me, you Lu'ym! Now make apart yourselves, and make apart the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the Made Apart place.
6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) our ALUAH, and have forsaken Him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and turned their backs.
7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the Made Apart place to The ALUAH of Yashar'AL.
8 Therefore the wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was on Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, and He has given them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.
9 For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
10 Now it is in my heart to make a Bar'yath (covenant) With 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, that His fierce anger may turn away from us.
11 My sons, do not be at tranquility, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) has chosen you to stand before Him, to attend to Him, and that you should be His attendants and burn incense."
12 Then the Lu'ym arose, Makhath son of Amash’ya, and YAHU’AL son of Azar'Yahu, of sons of the Qa'ah'tha'ya, and of sons of Marara’ya, Qayash son of Abada’ya, and Azar'Yahu son of Yah’lal’AL, and of the Gar’shan’ya, Yahu’akh son of Zamah, and Adan son of Yahu'akh,
13 and of sons of AL’ya’tsapan, Shamara’ya and Ya’ya’AL (Yuh’ya’AL), and of sons of Asap, Zakara'Yahu and Mathan'Yah,
14 and of sons of Ha'yaman, Yakhu’AL and Shama’ya, and of sons of Yadu’thun (Yadu’thoon), Shama'Yahu and Aza’ya’AL.
15 And tey gathered their brothers, and made apart themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by the words of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to cleanse the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
16 And the ka’ahn’ym (priests) went in to the inner part of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the Hayakal of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) into the court of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). And the Lu'ym took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Qadar'un (Qadar'oon).
17 Now they began on one of the first month to make apart, and in day eight of the month came they to the porch of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and they made apart the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) in eight days: and in the sixteen day of the first month they made an end.
18 Then they went in to Khazaqa'Yahu the king within and said, "We have cleansed all the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the table of show bread, with all its vessels.
19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Akhaz in his reign did cast away when he trespassed, have we prepared and made apart, and behold, they are before the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)."
20 Then Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
21 And they brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a transgression offering for the reign and for the Made Apart Place and for Yahudah. And he commanded the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sons of A'haran to offer them on the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
22 So they killed the bulls, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar.
23 And they brought near the male goats for the transgression offering before the king and the assembly, and they laid their hands on them:
24 and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) killed them, and they made a transgression offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Yashar'AL, for the king commanded the burnt offering and the transgressionn offering for all Yashar'AL
25 And he appointed the Lu'ym in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of Dau'yad, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the nab’ya (prophet), for the commandment was of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) by his nab’ya’ya (prophets).
26 And the Lu'ym stood with the instruments of Dau'yad, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) with the trumpets.
27 And Khazaqa'Yahu commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of Dau'yad king of Yashar'AL.
28 And all the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded, all this until the burnt offering was finished.
29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all who were discovered with him bowed themselves and worshiped.
30 Moreover Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu the king and the princes commanded the Lu'ym to sing praises to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) with the words of Dau'yad, and of Asap the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
31 Then Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu answered, "Now you have made apart yourselves to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), come near and bring slaughterings and thank offerings into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)." And the assembly brought in slaughterings and thank offerings, and as many as were of a willing heart burnt offerings.
32 And the number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
33 And the made apart items were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep.
34 But the ka’ahn’ym (priests) were too few, so that they could not to skin all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Lu'ym helped them, until the work was ended, and until the ka’ahn’ym (priests) had made apart themselves, for the Lu'ym were more upright in heart to make apart themselves than the ka’ahn’ym (priests).
35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the shalam’ym (peace) offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was established.
36 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which ALUAH had prepared for the people: for the matter was done with sudden.
CHAPTER 30
1 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu sent to all Yashar'AL and Yahudah, and wrote letters also to Apara’ym and Mana'shah, that they should come to the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) at Yaru'shalam, to keep the Pasakh to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL.
2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Yaru'shalam, to keep the Pasakh in the second month.
3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the ka’ahn’ym (priests) had not made apart themselves to sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Yaru'shalam.
4 And the word was upright in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly.
5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Yashar'AL, from Ba'ar Shaba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Pasakh to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, at Yaru'shalam: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written.
6 So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Yashar'AL and Yahudah, and according to the commandment of the king saying, "You children of Yashar'AL, turn again to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of Abara’ahm, Ya’tsakhaq, and Yashar'AL, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Ashur.
7 And do not be like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see.
8 Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and enter into His Made Apart Place, which He has made apart forever, and serve 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH, that His fierce anger may turn away from you.
9 For if you turn again to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall come again into this land: For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH is favorful and compassionate, and will not turn away His face from you, if you return to Him."
10 So the couriers passed from city to city through the land of Apara’ym and Mana'shah, even to Zabal’un (Zabal’oon): but they ridiculed them and mocked them.
11 Nevertheless certain men of Ashar and Mana'shah and of Zabal’un humbled themselves, and came to Yaru'shalam.
12 Also on Yahudah came the hand of ALUAH to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
13 And many people assembled at Yaru'shalam to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.
14 And they arose and took away the altars that were in Yaru'shalam, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Qadar'un (Qadar'oon).
15 And then they killed the Pasakh on fourteen of the second month: and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym were ashamed, and made apart themselves, and brought burnt offerings into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
16 And they stood in their place after their order, according to the ordinance of Mashah the man of ALUAH: the priests sprinkled the blood [which they received] of the hand of the Lu'ym.
17 For there were many in the assembly who had not made apart themselves: therefore the Lu'ym were in charge of killing the Pasakh’ym for everyone who was not clean, to make apart them to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Apara’ym and Mana'shah, Ya’shasha’kar and Zabal’un, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Pasakh contrary than what it is written. For Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu had prayed for them saying, “The good of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) pardon everyone,
19 who places his heart to seek ALUAH, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of his fathers, even if they are not clean according to the purification of the Made Apart Place."
20 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) listened to Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu and healed the people.
21 And the children of Yashar'AL who were the discovered at Yaru'shalam kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness, and the Lu'ym and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) praised 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) day by day, with loud instruments to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
22 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu spoke comfortably to all the Lu'ym who had good understanding of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH). So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering slaughterings of shalam’ym (peace) offerings and making confession to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
23 And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days, and they kept seven days with gladness.
24 For Khazaqa'Yahu king of Yahudah did give to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests made apart themselves.
25 And all the assembly of Yahudah, with the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym, and all the assembly who came out of Yashar'AL, and the foreigners who came out of the land of Yashar'AL, and who abided in Yahudah, rejoiced.
26 So there was great joy in Yaru'shalam, for since the time of Shalamah son of Dau'yad king of Yashar'AL there was not the like in Yaru'shalam.
27 Then the priests the Lu'ym arose and they Barak the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to His Made Apart Habitation, even to shama'ym.
CHAPTER 31
1 Now when all this was finished, all Yashar'AL who were discovered went out to the cities of Yahudah, and broke in pieces the columns, and cut down the ashar'ym, and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Yahudah and Ban'yaman, in Apara’ym also and Mana'shah, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Yashar'AL returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.
2 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu appointed the divisions of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym, for burnt offerings and for shalam’ym (peace) offerings, to attend, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
3 And the king's portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, for the rising and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Shabath'uth, and for the new months, and for the appointed time, as it is written in the Thur’ath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
4 And he commanded the people who abided in Yaru'shalam to give the portion of the priests and the Lu'ym, that they might give themselves to the law of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
5 As soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Yashar'AL gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field, and the tithe of all brought they in abundantly.
6 And the children of Yashar'AL and Yahudah, who abided in the cities of Yahudah, they also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of dedicated items that were made apart to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) their ALUAH, and laid them by heaps.
7 In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month.
8 When Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu and the princes came and saw the heaps, they Barak 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and his people Yashar'AL.
9 Then Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu asked the ka’ahn’ym (priests) and the Lu'ym concerning the heaps.
10 And Azar'Yahu the chief ka’ahn (priest), of the house of Tsaduq, answered him and said, "Since people began to bring the offerings into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), we have eaten and had enough, and have left plenty: For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Barak His people, and that which is left is this great store."
11 Then Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu commanded them to prepare rooms in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and they prepared them.
12 And they brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated items trustworthy: and over them Kanan'Yahu the Lu'ya was ruler, and Shama'ya his brother was second.
13 And Ya'kha'ya'AL, and Azaz’Yahu, and Nakhath, and Ashah’AL, and Yara'ya'muth (Yara'ya'mooth), and Yahu'zabad, and AL’YA’AL, and Ya’samak’Yahu, and Makhath, and Ban'Yahu, were overseers under the hand of Kanan'Yahu and Shama'ya his brother, by the appointment of Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu the king, and Azar'Yahu the ruler of the house of ALUAH.
14 And Qura son of Ya’manah the Lu'ya, the porter at the east, was over the freewill offerings of ALUAH, to distribute the offerings of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the most Made Apart items.
15 And under him were Adan, and Man’yaman, and Yashua, and Shama'Yahu, Amar'Yahu, and Shakan’Yahu, in the cities of theka’ahn’ym (priests), in their office of trust, to give to their brothers by divisions, as well to the great as to the small:
16 Besides those who were reckoned by genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even everyone who entered into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as the duty of every day required, for their service in their offices according to their divisions,
17 and those who were reckoned by genealogy of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) by their fathers' houses, and the Lu'ym from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their divisions,
18 and those who were reckoned by genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their office of trust they made apart themselves in made apartness.
19 Also for sons of A'haran the ka’ahn’ym (priests), who were in the fields of the open lands of their cities, in every city, there were men who were mentioned by name, to give portions to all the males among the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and to all who were reckoned by genealogy among the Lu'ym.
20 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu did so throughout all Yahudah, and he worked that which was good and right and trustworthy before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH.
21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house of ALUAH, and in the Thurah, and in the commandments, to seek his ALUAH, he did it with all his heart and prospered.
CHAPTER 32
1 And after the words, and this trustworthiness, San'khara'yab king of Ashur came, and entered into Yahudah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 When Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu saw that San'khara'yab was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Yaru'shalam,
3 And he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.
4 So many people gathered together, and they stopped all the springs, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying, "Why should the kings of Ashur come, and find much water?"
5 And he took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised up to the towers, and the other wall outside, and strengthened the Malua the city of Dau'yad, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
6 And he placed captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broad place at the gate of the city, and spoke comfortably to them saying,
7 "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid nor dismayed for king of Ashur, nor for all the multitude who is with him, for there is a greater with us than with him.
8 With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH to help us, and to fight our battles." And the people rested themselves on the words of Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu king of Yahudah.
9 After this did San'khara'yab king of Ashur send his servants to Yaru'shalam, now he was before Lak'yash, and all his power with him, to Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu king of Yahudah, and to all Yahudah who were at Yaru'shalam saying,
10 Thus says San'khara'yab king of Ashur, "In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Yaru'shalam?
11Does not Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu persuade you, to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, '𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Our ALUAH will rescue us out of the hand of king of Ashur?'
12 Has not the same Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Yahudah and Yaru'shalam saying, 'You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense?'
13 Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the idols of the nations of the lands in any way able to rescue their land out of my hand?
14 Who was there among all the idols of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could rescue his people out of my hand, that Your ALUAH should be able to rescue you out of my hand?
15 Now therefore do not let Khazaqa'Yahu deceive you, nor persuade you in this way, neither trust him, for no ALUAH of any nation or reign was able to rescue his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your ALUAH rescue you out of my hand?"
16 And his servants spoke yet more against 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) ALUAH, and against his servant Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu.
17 And he also wrote letters insulting 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL, and to speak against him saying, "As the idols of the nations of the lands, which have not rescue their people out of my hand, so shall The ALUAH of Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu not rescue his people out of my hand."
18 And they cried with a loud voice [in] Yahud’yath to the people of Yaru'shalam who were on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them, that they might take the city.
19 And they spoke against The ALUAH of Yaru'shalam, as of the idols of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men's hands.
20 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu the king, and Yasha'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet) son of Amuts, prayed because of this, and cried to shama'ym.
21 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) sent a messenger, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of king of Ashur. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his ALUAH, those who came forth from his own bowels killed him there with the sword.
22 Thus 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) saved Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam from the hand of San'khara'yab king of Ashur, and from the hand of all, and guided them on every side.
23 And many brought gifts to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) to Yaru'shalam, and gifts to Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu king of Yahudah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforth
24 In those days Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu was sick even to death: and he prayed to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and He spoke to him, and He gave him a sign.
25 But Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu did not render again according to the benefit done to him, for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath on him, and on Yahudah and Yaru'shalam.
26 Notwithstanding Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam, so that the wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) did not come on them in the days of Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu.
27 And to Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu, he had exceeding much riches and esteem: and he provided him treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all kinds of goodly vessels,
28 and storehouses for the increase of grain and new wine and oil, and stalls for all kinds of beasts, and flocks in folds.
29 And he provided to him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance, for ALUAH had given him very much substance.
30 This same Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gaya'khun (Gaya'khoon), and brought them straight down on the west side of the city of Dau'yad. And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu prospered in all his works.
31 However with the ambassadors of the princes of Babal, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, ALUAH left him, to try him, that He might know all that was in his heart.
32 Now the rest of the acts of Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu, and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Yasha'Yahu the prophet son of Amuts, in the book of the kings of Yahudah and Yashar'AL.
33 And Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent of the tombs of sons of Dau'yad: and all Yahudah and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam did him esteem at his death. And Mana'shah his son reigned in his place.
CHAPTER 33
1 Mana'shah was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Yaru'shalam.
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), after the abominations of the nations whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) cast out before the children of Yashar'AL.
3 For he built again the high places which Ya'Khazaqa'Yahu his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for the Ba'al'ym, and made ashar'uth, and worshiped all the army of the sky and served them.
4 And he built altars in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), of that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) said, "My Name shall be in Yaru'shalam forever."
5 And he built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
6 And he made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of son of Hanam, and he practiced sorcery, and used enchantments, and practiced sorcery, and dealt with those who had mediums, and with wizards: he worked much evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to provoke Him to anger.
7 And he placed the engraved image of the idol that he had made, in the House of ALUAH, of which ALUAH said to Dau'yad and to Shalamah his son, "In this House, and in Yaru'shalam, that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yashar'AL, will I put My Name forever:
8 neither will I any more remove the foot of Yashar'AL from off the land that I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the Thurah and the statutes and the ordinances given by Mashah."
9 And Mana'shah led astray Yahudah and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam, so that they did evil more than did the nations whom 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) destroyed before the children of Yashar'AL.
10 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) spoke to Mana'shah, and to His people, but they gave no heed.
11 Therefore 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) brought on them the captains of the army of king of Ashur, who took Mana'shah in chains, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babal.
12 When he was in distress, he begged 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH, and humbled himself greatly before The ALUAH of his fathers.
13 And he prayed to Him, and he was entreated by Him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Yaru'shalam into his reign. Then Mana'shah knew that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) IS THE ALUAH.
14 Now after this he built an outer wall to the city of Dau'yad, on the west side of Gaya'khun (Gaya'khoon), in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate, and he encircled Apal, and raised it up to a very great height: and he put valiant captains in all the fortified cities of Yahudah.
15 And he took away the foreign idols, and the idol out of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and all the altars that he had built in the mountain of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and in Yaru'shalam, and cast them out of the city.
16 And he built up the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and offered thereon slaughterings of shalam’ym (peace) offerings and of thanksgiving, and commanded Yahudah to serve 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL.
17 Nevertheless the people slaughtered still in the high places, but only to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Their ALUAH.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Mana'shah, and his prayer to his ALUAH, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in The Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of Yashar'AL, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Yashar'AL.
19 And his prayer and his entreaty to Him, and all his transgression and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up the ashar'ym and the engraved images, before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the words of Khuza’ya.
20 So Mana'shah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amun his son reigned in his place.
21 Amun was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Yaru'shalam.
22 And he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as did Mana'shah his father, and Amun slaughtered to all the engraved images which Mana'shah his father had made and served them.
23 And he did not humble himself before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as Mana'shah his father had humbled himself, but this same Amun trespassed more and more.
24 And his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house.
25 But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against king Amun, and the people of the land made Ya’asha’Yahu his son king in his place.
CHAPTER 34
1 Ya’asha’Yahu was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Yaru'shalam.
2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and walked in the ways of Dau'yad his father, and did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
3 For in year eight of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after The ALUAH of Dau'yad his father, and in year twelve he began to purge Yahudah and Yaru'shalam from the high places, and the ashar'ym, and the engraved images, and the molten images.
4 And they broke down the altars of the Ba'al'ym in his face, and the incense altars that were on high above them he cut down, and the ashar'ym, and the engraved images, and the molten images, he broke in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it on the graves of who had slaughtered to them.
5 And he burnt the bones of the ka’ahn’ym (priests) on their altars, and purged Yahudah and Yaru'shalam.
6 And in the cities of Mana'shah and Apara’ym and Shama'un (Shama'oon), even to Nap'thal'ya, around in their ruins.
7 And he broke down the altars, and beat the ashar'ym and the engraved images into powder, and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Yashar'AL, and returned to Yaru'shalam.
8 Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shapan son of Atsal’Yahu, and Ma'asha'Yahu the governor of the city, and Yahu'akh son of Yahu'akhaz the recorder, to repair the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH.
9 And they came to Khalaqa'Yahu the high ka’ahn (priest), and gave the silver that was brought into the House of ALUAH, which the Lu'ym, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered of the hand of Mana'shah and Apara’ym, and of all the remnant of Yashar'AL, and of all Yahudah and Ban'yaman, and of the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam.
10 And they gave it into the hand of the workmen who had the oversight of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the workmen who labored in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) gave it to mend and repair the house,
11 even to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy cut stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Yahudah had destroyed.
12 And the men did the work trustworthy: and the overseers of them were Yakhath and Abada'Yahu, the Lu'ym, of sons of Marara’ya, and Zakara'Yahu and Ma’shalam, of sons of the Qa'ah'tha'ym, to place it forward, and the Lu'ym, all who were skillful with instruments of music.
13 Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and put forward all who did the work in every kind of service: and of the Lu'ym there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
14 When they brought out the silver that was brought into the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), Khalaqa'Yahu the priest found the Book of the Thur’ath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) by the hand of Mashah.
15 And Khalaqa'Yahu answered Shapan the scribe, "I have found the Book of the Thurah in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH)." And Khalaqa'Yahu gave the Book to Shapan.
16 And Shapan carried the Book to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king saying, "All that was committed to your servants, they are doing.
17 They have emptied out the silver that was found in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and have given it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen."
18 And Shapan the scribe told the king saying, "Khalaqa'Yahu the ka’ahn (priest) has given me a Book." And Shapan read therein before the king.
19 And it came to be, when the king had heard the words of the Thurah, that he tore his clothes.
20 And the king commanded Khalaqa'Yahu, and Akh’yaqam son of Shapan, and Abada’un (Abada’oon) son of Maya’kah, and Shapan the scribe, and Ash’Yah the king's servant saying,
21 "Go inquire of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) for me, and for those who are left in Yashar'AL and in Yahudah, concerning the words of the Book that is found, for great is the wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to do according to all that is written in this Book."
22 So Khalaqa'Yahu, and they of the king, went to Khal'dah the nab’ya’ah (prophetess), wife of Shalam son of Thaqah’tha, son of Khasarah, keeper of the wardrobe, now she abided in Yaru'shalam in the second, and they spoke to her to that effect.
23 And she said to them, "Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL: 'Tell the man who sent you to me,
24 "Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), 'Behold, I will bring evil on this place, and on its inhabitants, even all the curses that are written in the Book which they have read before king of Yahudah.
25 Because they have forsaken Me, and have burned incense to other idols, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands, therefore is My wrath poured out on this place, and it shall not be quenched.'"
26 But to king of Yahudah, who sent you to inquire of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), thus you shall tell him, 'Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL: "As touching the words which you have heard,
27 because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before ALUAH, when you heard His words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before Me, and have torn your clothes, and wept before Me, I also have heard you," says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
28 "Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in shalum (peace), neither shall your eyes see all the evil that I will bring on this place, and on its inhabitants.” And they brought back word to the king.
29 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Yahudah and Yaru'shalam.
30 And the king went up to the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and all the men of Yahudah and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and the Lu'ym, and all the people, both great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the Book of the Bar'yath (covenant) that was found in the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
31 And the king stood in his place, and made a Bar'yath (covenant) to the face of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), to walk after 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and to keep His commandments, and His witnesses, and His statutes, with all his heart, and with all his being, to perform the words of the Bar'yath (covenant) that were written in this Book.
32 And he caused all who were found in Yaru'shalam and Ban'yaman to stand. And the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam did according to the Bar'yath (covenant) OF ALUAH, The ALUAH of their fathers.
33 And Ya’asha’Yahu took away all the abominations out of all the lands that pertained to the children of Yashar'AL, and made all who were found in Yashar'AL to serve, even to serve 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) their ALUAH. All his days they did not depart from following 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers.
CHAPTER 35
1 And Ya’asha’Yahu performed a Pasakh to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) in Yaru'shalam: and they killed the Pasakh on fourteen of the first month.
2 And he put the ka’ahn’ym (priests) in their offices, and encouraged them to the service of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
3 And he said to the Lu'ym who taught all Yashar'AL, who were Made Apart to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), "Put the Made Apart Ark in the House which Shalamah son of Dau'yad king of Yashar'AL built. There shall no more be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) Your ALUAH, and His people Yashar'AL.
4 And prepare yourselves after your fathers' houses by your divisions, according to the writing of Dau'yad king of Yashar'AL, and according to the writing of Shalamah his son.
5 And stand in the Made Apart place according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of your brothers the children of the people, and a portion of a fathers' house of the Lu'ym.
6 And kill the Pasakh, and make apart yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) by Mashah."
7 And Ya’asha’Yahu gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and young goats, all of them for the Pasakh offerings, to all who were discovered, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bulls: these were of the king's substance.
8 And his princes gave for a freewill offering to the people, to the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and to the Lu'ym. Khalaqa'Yahu and Zakara'Yahu and Ya'kha'ya'AL, the rulers of the house of ALUAH, gave to the ka’ahn’ym (priests) for the Pasakh offerings two thousand and six hundred, and three hundred head of cattle.
9 And Kanan'Yahu also, and Shama'Yahu and Nathan’AL, his brothers, and Khashab’Yahu and Ya'ya'AL (Yuh'ya'AL) and Yahu'zabad, the chiefs of the Lu'ym, gave to the Lu'ym for the Pasakh offerings five thousand, and five hundred head of cattle.
10 So the service was prepared, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) stood in their place, and the Lu'ym by their divisions, according to the king's commandment.
11 And they killed the Pasakh, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sprinkled from their hands, and the Lu'ym flayed them.
12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the children of the people, to offer to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), as it is written in the Book of Mashah. So did they with the cattle.
13 And they roasted the Pasakh with fire according to the ordinance: and the Made Apart offerings boiled they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people.
14 And Afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the ka’ahn’ym (priests), because the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sons of A'haran in offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night: therefore the Lu'ym prepared for themselves, and for the ka’ahn’ym (priests) sons of A'haran.
15 And the singers sons of Asap were in their place, according to the commandment of Dau'yad, and Asap, and Ha'yaman, and Yada'thun (Yada'thoon) the king's seer, and the porters were at every gate: and they did not need to depart from their service, for their brothers the Lu'ym prepared for them.
16 So all the service of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) was prepared the same day, to keep the Pasakh, and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), according to the commandment of king Ya’asha’Yahu.
17 And the children of Yashar'AL who were discovered kept the Pasakh at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
18 And there was no Pasakh like that kept in Yashar'AL from the days of Shamu’AL the nab’ya (prophet), neither did any of the kings of Yashar'AL keep such a Pasakh as Ya’asha’Yahu kept, and the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and the Lu'ym, and all Yahudah and Yashar'AL who were discovered, and the inhabitants of Yaru'shalam.
19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Ya’asha’Yahu was this Pasakh kept.
20 After all this, when Ya’asha’Yahu had prepared the Hayakal, Naku king of Ma’tsara’ym went up to fight against Kar’kama’yash by the Parath: and Ya’asha’Yahu went out against him.
21 But he sent ambassadors to him saying, "What have I to do with you, king of Yahudah? I come not against you this day, but against the house with which I have war. ALUAH has commanded me to make haste. Beware that it is ALUAH who is with me, that He not destroy you."
22 Nevertheless Ya’asha’Yahu would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and did not listen to the words of Naku from the mouth of ALUAH, and came to fight in the valley of Magadu.
23 And the archers shot at king Ya’asha’Yahu, and the king said to his servants, "Take me away, because I am severely wounded!"
24 So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Yaru'shalam, and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. And all Yahudah and Yaru'shalam mourned for Ya’asha’Yahu.
25 And Yaram'Yahu lamented for Ya’asha’Yahu: and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Ya’asha’Yahu in their lamentations to this day, and they made them an ordinance in Yashar'AL: and behold, they are written in the Lamentations.
26 Now the rest of the acts of Ya’asha’Yahu, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the Thur’ath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH),
27 and his acts, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yashar'AL and Yahudah.
CHAPTER 36
1 Then the people of the land took Yahu'akhaz son of Ya’asha’Yahu, and made him king in his father's place in Yaru'shalam.
2 Yahu'akhaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Yaru'shalam.
3 And the king of Ma’tsara’ym deposed him at Yaru'shalam, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
4 And the king of Ma’tsara’ym made AL'yaq'yam his brother king over Yahudah and Yaru'shalam, and changed his name to Yahu'yaq'yam. And Naku took Yahu'akhaz his brother, and carried him to Ma’tsara’ym.
5 Yahu'yaq'yam was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Yaru'shalam: and he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH.
6 Against him came up Nabu'khad'natsar king of Babal, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babal.
7 And Nabu'khad'natsar also carried of the vessels of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) to Babal, and put them in his Hayakal at Babal.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Yahu'yaq'yam, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yashar'AL and Yahudah: and Yahu'yak'yan his son reigned in his place.
9 Yahu'yak'yan was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Yaru'shalam: and he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
10 And at the turn of the year king Nabu'khad'natsar sent, and brought him to Babal, with the goodly vessels of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and made Tsadaqa'Yahu his brother king over Yahudah and Yaru'shalam.
11 Tsadaqa'Yahu was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Yaru'shalam:
12 and he did that which was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH, he did not humble himself before Yaram'Yahu the nab’ya (prophet )from the mouth of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH).
13 And he also rebelled against king Nabu'khad'natsar, who had made him swear by ALUAH: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH OF Yashar'AL.
14 Moreover all the chiefs of the ka’ahn’ym (priests), and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations, and they polluted the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) that He had made Made Apart in Yaru'shalam.
15 And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because He had compassion on His people, and on His Abiding Place:
16 But they mocked the messengers of ALUAH, and despised his words, and scoffed at His nab’a’ya (prophets), until the wrath of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) arose against His people, until there was no remedy.
17 Therefore He brought on them king of the Kashad’ym, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their Made Apart Place, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or gray-headed: He gave them all into his hand.
18 And all the vessels of the House of ALUAH, great and small, and the treasures of the House of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), and the treasures of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Babal.
19 And they burnt the house of ALUAH, and broke down the wall of Yaru'shalam, and burnt all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels of it.
20 And he carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babal, and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the reign of Paras:
21 To fulfill The Word OF 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) by the mouth of Yaram'Yahu, until the land had enjoyed its Shabath'uth: as long as it lay desolate it kept Shabath, to fulfill seventy years.
22 Now in year one of Kursh king of Paras, that the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) by the mouth of Yaram'Yahu might be accomplished, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) stirred up the rukh of Kursh king of Paras, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his reign, and also in writing saying,
23 "Thus says Kursh king of Paras, '𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH), The ALUAH of shama'ym, has given all the reigns of the earth to me, and He has commanded me to build Him A House in Yaru'shalam, which is in Yahudah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) His ALUAH be with him, and let him go up.'"
